The Supreme Irony of Victim Shaming!
It creates a chilling effect, making victims fearful of being judged, disbelieved, or blamed if they come forward, leading to many cases going unreported.
The shaming process is often referred to as secondary victimization because it inflicts psychological harm on top of the trauma of the assault itself.
It can exacerbate existing trauma and contribute to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, isolation, and self-blame.
It reinforces the societal norms and myths (known as rape culture) that minimize sexual violence and protect perpetrators, making assault more likely to occur and less likely to be punished.
Here we bring upon the IRONY of all times, extensively defaming and traumatizing the victim.
